These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of AL1 Tutor. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully before subscribing.
AL1 Tutor is an AI tutoring service operated by Etiglo (Singapore). One parent account, up to six children. Try Essential or Elite free for 7 days. Cancel during the trial with no charge. After the trial, subscriptions auto-renew monthly. Top-up credits never expire. Refer six friends, get $10 off each side. AI can make mistakes — AL1 is a learning aid, not a replacement for school. Disputes settled under Singapore law.
AL1 Tutor ("AL1", "we", "us", "our") is an AI tutoring platform aligned to the Singapore Ministry of Education ("MOE") curriculum. The service is operated by:
Etiglo may at any time transfer the operation of AL1 Tutor to a successor entity, including a private limited company (Pte Ltd) incorporated for that purpose. Where this occurs, your account, subscription, and these Terms transfer to the successor entity without requiring renewed consent, provided the transfer does not materially reduce your rights.
To create an account, you must:
Children under 18 do not create their own accounts. They access the service through student profiles created by a parent or guardian within a family account. See Section 3.
Each AL1 Tutor account is a family account owned by a parent or guardian. Within a family account, you may create up to six (6) student profiles for the children in your household.
Student profiles allow each child to have their own progress tracking, mastery records, vocabulary lists, and chat history. However, the family account shares a single subscription and a single credit pool. Credit consumption by any student profile draws from the family pool.
You may not:
| Tier | Price (SGD) | Subscription credits | Weekly cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Foundation | Free | 20 credits one-time at signup (never expire) | — |
| Essential | $30 / month | 200 credits / month | 50 credits / rolling 7 days |
| Elite | $250 / month | 2,000 credits / month | 500 credits / rolling 7 days |
Different actions on the platform consume different numbers of credits, calibrated to the underlying cost of providing each feature. The credit cost of each action is published in your account's Usage settings and may be updated from time to time with at least 30 days' notice.
Subscription credits do not roll over. Any unused subscription credits at the end of your monthly billing cycle are forfeited.
You may purchase additional credits ("top-ups") at any time, at a flat rate of S$0.20 per credit. Available bundles:
| Price (SGD) | Credits |
|---|---|
| $5 | 25 credits |
| $15 | 75 credits |
| $50 | 250 credits |
| $1,000 | 5,000 credits |
Top-up credits never expire, are not subject to weekly or monthly caps, and may be used alongside or after subscription credits.
Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. Your billing cycle is anchored to the date your paid subscription begins (after the free trial). Renewal occurs automatically on the same date each month until cancelled. Top-ups are charged as one-time payments at the time of purchase.
If your payment method fails, we will attempt to retry the charge in accordance with Stripe's standard retry schedule. If recovery fails, your tier reverts to Foundation and access to paid features is suspended until payment is restored.
We may revise subscription prices, top-up bundle pricing, or per-action credit costs from time to time. We will provide at least 30 days' notice by email before any change takes effect. Continued use of the service after the change is your acceptance of the revised pricing. If you do not agree, you may cancel your subscription before the change takes effect.
When you upgrade from Foundation to Essential or Elite for the first time, you are eligible for a 7-day free trial. During the trial:
On the eighth day:
The free trial is offered once per identity. For this purpose, an "identity" is determined by a combination of: your verified Singapore mobile number, your payment method fingerprint as recorded by Stripe, your normalised email address, and a device hash. If any one of these matches a previous trial redemption, you will be enrolled as a paying subscriber from day one without a free trial.
This applies regardless of whether your previous trial was for the same or a different tier, whether you cancelled before or after the trial period, or whether the previous account is currently active.
To start a free trial or paid subscription, you will be asked to verify a Singapore mobile number via SMS one-time password (OTP). This verification is required to prevent abuse of the free trial system. By providing your mobile number, you consent to receive a one-time SMS code from Twilio for verification purposes.
Each active AL1 Tutor account receives six (6) referral codes that you may share with friends or family.
Referral codes may not be:
We reserve the right to investigate suspected abuse, void affected referrals, reclaim improperly issued discounts, and terminate accounts found to be in breach of these rules.
Our refund policy is set out in full in the Refund Policy. In summary:
You may cancel a subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle.
You agree not to use AL1 Tutor to:
For the avoidance of doubt, ordinary academic use of AL1 Tutor — including consulting it on homework, submitting compositions for feedback, and generating practice papers — is expressly permitted. Schools or examinations boards may impose their own restrictions on the use of AI tutoring during assessments; you are responsible for complying with those.
"User Content" means any content you or your children submit to AL1 Tutor, including chat messages, composition drafts, photographs of spelling lists or worksheets, voice recordings (where applicable), and feedback ratings.
You retain ownership of your User Content. By submitting it, you grant Etiglo a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and process your User Content for the purpose of providing the service to you. This licence extends only to operating AL1 Tutor and improving its quality for you.
We do not use User Content from children's accounts to train or fine-tune third-party AI models. Where User Content is used to improve AL1 Tutor's internal systems (such as building better vocabulary lookups or improving cache hit rates), it is first de-identified — that is, all personal identifiers are stripped before any analytic processing.
If you do not wish even de-identified content to be used for service improvement, you may opt out via your account's Privacy settings. See the Privacy Policy for details.
AL1 Tutor's responses are generated by artificial intelligence and may contain errors. AI is a powerful learning aid but is not infallible. Always verify important information — particularly mathematical workings, language translations, and exam-style answers — with your child's teacher or trusted textbooks before relying on it.
AL1 Tutor uses a combination of retrieval-augmented generation (drawing from MOE syllabus content and verified question banks) and large language models (currently Claude, Gemini, and others) to produce responses. We implement multiple layers of verification — including grounding against curated source material, automated auditor checks, and confidence scoring — to maximise accuracy. Our methodology is described publicly on our Trust & Accuracy page.
Notwithstanding our efforts, AL1 Tutor makes no guarantee of factual accuracy, no guarantee of examination performance, and no guarantee of alignment with any particular school's curriculum interpretation. Use of AL1 Tutor is supplementary to, not a replacement for, formal schooling and qualified human instruction.
All software, content, designs, trademarks, and other materials made available through AL1 Tutor (excluding User Content) are owned by Etiglo or its licensors and are protected by Singapore and international intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use AL1 Tutor for your personal, non-commercial use as a paying or trial subscriber. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the service or its content, except for the personal use of generated outputs (e.g. printing a mock exam paper your child has generated for personal study).
"AL1 Tutor", the AL1 Tutor logo, and related branding are trademarks of Etiglo. You may not use them without our prior written permission.
Third-party trademarks, including "MOE", "PSLE", "Cambridge", "GCE", and others, are the property of their respective owners and are referenced descriptively. AL1 Tutor is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Singapore Ministry of Education, the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board, Cambridge Assessment, or any school.
Your privacy and your children's privacy are paramount. Our handling of personal data is governed by the Privacy Policy and our PDPA Compliance Statement, both of which form part of these Terms by reference.
In summary:
You may terminate your account at any time by cancelling your subscription and contacting us to request account deletion. Account deletion is permanent and removes your data within 30 days of the request, subject to limited exceptions for legal record-keeping (see the Privacy Policy).
We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without prior notice, if:
On termination by us for cause, no refund is owed for the current billing cycle. On termination by you, the cancellation rules in Section 7 apply.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, AL1 Tutor is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We expressly disclaim all warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy of content.
We do not warrant that:
To the maximum extent permitted by Singapore law, Etiglo's aggregate liability to you in respect of any claim arising from or relating to your use of AL1 Tutor — whether in contract, tort (including negligence), statute, or otherwise — shall not exceed the total amount you have actually paid to Etiglo in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
In no event shall Etiglo be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, loss of educational opportunity, examination outcomes, or reputational damage, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under Singapore law, including liability for personal injury or death caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Etiglo and its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the current version took effect.
For material changes — including changes to pricing, credit costs, refund policy, or your rights under these Terms — we will provide at least 30 days' notice by email to your registered address. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree, you may cancel your subscription before the revised Terms take effect.
For non-material changes — such as clarifications, corrections of typographical errors, or updates to contact details — we may make the change without prior notice, but the change will be recorded in the version history.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
If a dispute arises between you and Etiglo, we ask that you first contact us at [email protected] so that we may attempt to resolve the matter informally. Most disputes can be resolved in this way.
If informal resolution fails:
