Terms of Service

Last updated: 21 May 2026 · Version 2.0

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of AL1 Tutor. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully before subscribing.

The short version

AL1 Tutor is an AI tutoring service operated by Etiglo (Singapore). One parent account, up to six children. Try Essential or Elite free for 7 days. Cancel during the trial with no charge. After the trial, subscriptions auto-renew monthly. Top-up credits never expire. Refer six friends, get $10 off each side. AI can make mistakes — AL1 is a learning aid, not a replacement for school. Disputes settled under Singapore law.

1. About AL1 Tutor

AL1 Tutor ("AL1", "we", "us", "our") is an AI tutoring platform aligned to the Singapore Ministry of Education ("MOE") curriculum. The service is operated by:

Etiglo (trading as "AL1 Tutor")
Sole proprietorship registered in Singapore
Website: al1tutor.com
Contact: [email protected]

Etiglo may at any time transfer the operation of AL1 Tutor to a successor entity, including a private limited company (Pte Ltd) incorporated for that purpose. Where this occurs, your account, subscription, and these Terms transfer to the successor entity without requiring renewed consent, provided the transfer does not materially reduce your rights.

2. Eligibility & Account Registration

To create an account, you must:

  • be at least 18 years of age and resident in Singapore or another jurisdiction where AL1 Tutor is offered;
  • be the parent, legal guardian, or authorised educator of any child whose information you register on the platform;
  • have received a valid invitation code from AL1 Tutor or an existing user. AL1 Tutor is currently an invite-only service. Public sign-ups are not available; you may join our waitlist to receive an invitation when available;
  • provide accurate, current, and complete information when registering and keep it updated;
  • maintain the security of your account credentials. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

Children under 18 do not create their own accounts. They access the service through student profiles created by a parent or guardian within a family account. See Section 3.

3. Family Accounts & Student Profiles

Each AL1 Tutor account is a family account owned by a parent or guardian. Within a family account, you may create up to six (6) student profiles for the children in your household.

Student profiles allow each child to have their own progress tracking, mastery records, vocabulary lists, and chat history. However, the family account shares a single subscription and a single credit pool. Credit consumption by any student profile draws from the family pool.

You may not:

  • create profiles for children who are not in your household or under your legal guardianship;
  • share student profiles or account credentials with persons outside your immediate family;
  • operate more than one family account per identity (see Section 5 on trial enforcement);
  • resell, sublicense, or commercialise access to your family account.

4. Subscriptions, Credits & Top-ups

Tiers

Tier Price (SGD) Subscription credits Weekly cap
Foundation Free 20 credits one-time at signup (never expire) —
Essential $30 / month 200 credits / month 50 credits / rolling 7 days
Elite $250 / month 2,000 credits / month 500 credits / rolling 7 days

How credits are consumed

Different actions on the platform consume different numbers of credits, calibrated to the underlying cost of providing each feature. The credit cost of each action is published in your account's Usage settings and may be updated from time to time with at least 30 days' notice.

Subscription credits do not roll over. Any unused subscription credits at the end of your monthly billing cycle are forfeited.

Top-up credits

You may purchase additional credits ("top-ups") at any time, at a flat rate of S$0.20 per credit. Available bundles:

Price (SGD)Credits
$525 credits
$1575 credits
$50250 credits
$1,0005,000 credits

Top-up credits never expire, are not subject to weekly or monthly caps, and may be used alongside or after subscription credits.

Billing

Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. Your billing cycle is anchored to the date your paid subscription begins (after the free trial). Renewal occurs automatically on the same date each month until cancelled. Top-ups are charged as one-time payments at the time of purchase.

If your payment method fails, we will attempt to retry the charge in accordance with Stripe's standard retry schedule. If recovery fails, your tier reverts to Foundation and access to paid features is suspended until payment is restored.

Price changes

We may revise subscription prices, top-up bundle pricing, or per-action credit costs from time to time. We will provide at least 30 days' notice by email before any change takes effect. Continued use of the service after the change is your acceptance of the revised pricing. If you do not agree, you may cancel your subscription before the change takes effect.

5. 7-Day Free Trial

When you upgrade from Foundation to Essential or Elite for the first time, you are eligible for a 7-day free trial. During the trial:

  • your payment card is authorised but not charged;
  • you receive a trial credit grant: 50 credits (Essential) or 100 credits (Elite);
  • you have access to the full feature set of the tier you have selected;
  • you may cancel at any time before the trial ends to avoid any charge.

On the eighth day:

  • if you have not cancelled, your card is automatically charged the full monthly subscription fee and your first paid month begins. Your trial credit grant is wiped and replaced with the full month's subscription credits;
  • if you have cancelled, no charge is made. Your tier reverts to Foundation. Trial credits expire immediately.

One trial per identity, lifetime

The free trial is offered once per identity. For this purpose, an "identity" is determined by a combination of: your verified Singapore mobile number, your payment method fingerprint as recorded by Stripe, your normalised email address, and a device hash. If any one of these matches a previous trial redemption, you will be enrolled as a paying subscriber from day one without a free trial.

This applies regardless of whether your previous trial was for the same or a different tier, whether you cancelled before or after the trial period, or whether the previous account is currently active.

Singapore mobile verification

To start a free trial or paid subscription, you will be asked to verify a Singapore mobile number via SMS one-time password (OTP). This verification is required to prevent abuse of the free trial system. By providing your mobile number, you consent to receive a one-time SMS code from Twilio for verification purposes.

6. Referral Programme

Each active AL1 Tutor account receives six (6) referral codes that you may share with friends or family.

How it works

  1. You share one of your referral codes with someone who has not previously used AL1 Tutor.
  2. They sign up using your code and upgrade from Foundation to Essential or Elite.
  3. When their first paid charge succeeds (day 8 of their free trial), both of you receive S$10 in banked subscription credit.

Redemption rules

  • A maximum of S$10 per billing cycle may be redeemed against your subscription invoice. Banked excess carries forward to subsequent cycles.
  • Banked discounts expire 12 months from the date they were earned, whether or not redeemed.
  • Discounts apply only to Essential or Elite subscription charges. They are not applicable to top-up purchases, even in part.
  • Discounts do not stack with other promotional or campaign discounts.
  • If your referred friend cancels their subscription during the 7-day free trial, neither party earns a discount (the referral does not "stick").
  • If your referred friend's subscription is refunded after the trial under exceptional circumstances, your already-earned discount is not clawed back.

Anti-abuse

Referral codes may not be:

  • used by you on your own additional account, or by members of the same household;
  • posted to public coupon directories, deal-aggregation websites, or social media beyond personal sharing with friends and family;
  • used in combination with multiple identities to manufacture artificial referrals.

We reserve the right to investigate suspected abuse, void affected referrals, reclaim improperly issued discounts, and terminate accounts found to be in breach of these rules.

7. Refunds & Cancellation

Our refund policy is set out in full in the Refund Policy. In summary:

  • During the 7-day free trial, cancellation is free and instant. No charge is made.
  • After the trial, monthly subscriptions are non-refundable for the current cycle. You may cancel future renewals at any time via your Billing settings; service continues to the end of the paid period and then drops to Foundation.
  • Top-up credits are non-refundable once any credit from the purchase has been spent.
  • Failed AI generations (e.g. a mock exam paper that fails to generate due to a server error) result in an automatic credit refund into your account.

You may cancel a subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use AL1 Tutor to:

  • violate any applicable law or regulation;
  • harm, harass, threaten, deceive, or defraud any other person, including other AL1 Tutor users;
  • upload, generate, or distribute content that is illegal, infringing, defamatory, obscene, hateful, or otherwise objectionable;
  • attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract the proprietary content, models, or system prompts of AL1 Tutor;
  • use AL1 Tutor's output to train another AI system or to develop a competing product;
  • circumvent or attempt to circumvent any credit caps, rate limits, paywalls, or other usage controls;
  • access AL1 Tutor by automated means (bots, scrapers, headless browsers used at scale) except where expressly permitted;
  • misrepresent your identity, your child's age or level, or your household composition;
  • engage in any activity that interferes with or disrupts AL1 Tutor's servers, infrastructure, or other users' enjoyment of the service.

For the avoidance of doubt, ordinary academic use of AL1 Tutor — including consulting it on homework, submitting compositions for feedback, and generating practice papers — is expressly permitted. Schools or examinations boards may impose their own restrictions on the use of AI tutoring during assessments; you are responsible for complying with those.

9. User Content & Licence

"User Content" means any content you or your children submit to AL1 Tutor, including chat messages, composition drafts, photographs of spelling lists or worksheets, voice recordings (where applicable), and feedback ratings.

You retain ownership of your User Content. By submitting it, you grant Etiglo a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and process your User Content for the purpose of providing the service to you. This licence extends only to operating AL1 Tutor and improving its quality for you.

Use of User Content for AI training

We do not use User Content from children's accounts to train or fine-tune third-party AI models. Where User Content is used to improve AL1 Tutor's internal systems (such as building better vocabulary lookups or improving cache hit rates), it is first de-identified — that is, all personal identifiers are stripped before any analytic processing.

If you do not wish even de-identified content to be used for service improvement, you may opt out via your account's Privacy settings. See the Privacy Policy for details.

10. AI-Generated Content & Accuracy Disclaimer

Important

AL1 Tutor's responses are generated by artificial intelligence and may contain errors. AI is a powerful learning aid but is not infallible. Always verify important information — particularly mathematical workings, language translations, and exam-style answers — with your child's teacher or trusted textbooks before relying on it.

AL1 Tutor uses a combination of retrieval-augmented generation (drawing from MOE syllabus content and verified question banks) and large language models (currently Claude, Gemini, and others) to produce responses. We implement multiple layers of verification — including grounding against curated source material, automated auditor checks, and confidence scoring — to maximise accuracy. Our methodology is described publicly on our Trust & Accuracy page.

Notwithstanding our efforts, AL1 Tutor makes no guarantee of factual accuracy, no guarantee of examination performance, and no guarantee of alignment with any particular school's curriculum interpretation. Use of AL1 Tutor is supplementary to, not a replacement for, formal schooling and qualified human instruction.

11. Intellectual Property

All software, content, designs, trademarks, and other materials made available through AL1 Tutor (excluding User Content) are owned by Etiglo or its licensors and are protected by Singapore and international intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use AL1 Tutor for your personal, non-commercial use as a paying or trial subscriber. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the service or its content, except for the personal use of generated outputs (e.g. printing a mock exam paper your child has generated for personal study).

"AL1 Tutor", the AL1 Tutor logo, and related branding are trademarks of Etiglo. You may not use them without our prior written permission.

Third-party trademarks, including "MOE", "PSLE", "Cambridge", "GCE", and others, are the property of their respective owners and are referenced descriptively. AL1 Tutor is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Singapore Ministry of Education, the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board, Cambridge Assessment, or any school.

12. Privacy & Data Protection

Your privacy and your children's privacy are paramount. Our handling of personal data is governed by the Privacy Policy and our PDPA Compliance Statement, both of which form part of these Terms by reference.

In summary:

  • We comply with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).
  • We collect only the personal data necessary to deliver the service.
  • Children's data is treated with heightened protection. See the Child Safety page.
  • You may exercise rights of access, correction, withdrawal of consent, and deletion at any time.
  • Our designated Data Protection Officer can be contacted at [email protected].

13. Termination & Suspension

You may terminate your account at any time by cancelling your subscription and contacting us to request account deletion. Account deletion is permanent and removes your data within 30 days of the request, subject to limited exceptions for legal record-keeping (see the Privacy Policy).

We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without prior notice, if:

  • you breach these Terms, including the Acceptable Use restrictions in Section 8;
  • your payment method fails persistently and recovery cannot be obtained;
  • we are required to do so by law or by a competent authority;
  • continued provision of the service would expose us or other users to legal or safety risk;
  • your conduct creates a credible risk of harm to a child, including but not limited to inappropriate use of student profiles, attempts to extract children's personal information, or attempts to engage children outside the service.

On termination by us for cause, no refund is owed for the current billing cycle. On termination by you, the cancellation rules in Section 7 apply.

14. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AL1 Tutor is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We expressly disclaim all warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy of content.

We do not warrant that:

  • the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure;
  • any defects will be corrected;
  • AI-generated responses will be accurate, complete, or sufficient for your educational purposes;
  • use of AL1 Tutor will improve examination outcomes.

Liability cap

To the maximum extent permitted by Singapore law, Etiglo's aggregate liability to you in respect of any claim arising from or relating to your use of AL1 Tutor — whether in contract, tort (including negligence), statute, or otherwise — shall not exceed the total amount you have actually paid to Etiglo in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

In no event shall Etiglo be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, loss of educational opportunity, examination outcomes, or reputational damage, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under Singapore law, including liability for personal injury or death caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Etiglo and its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

  • your breach of these Terms;
  • your or your children's User Content, where such content infringes any third-party right or violates any law;
  • your misuse of AL1 Tutor, including any use in violation of Section 8;
  • any misrepresentation by you concerning your identity, household composition, or eligibility.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the current version took effect.

For material changes — including changes to pricing, credit costs, refund policy, or your rights under these Terms — we will provide at least 30 days' notice by email to your registered address. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree, you may cancel your subscription before the revised Terms take effect.

For non-material changes — such as clarifications, corrections of typographical errors, or updates to contact details — we may make the change without prior notice, but the change will be recorded in the version history.

17. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

If a dispute arises between you and Etiglo, we ask that you first contact us at [email protected] so that we may attempt to resolve the matter informally. Most disputes can be resolved in this way.

If informal resolution fails:

  • Small consumer claims (under S$20,000 or such other threshold as the Small Claims Tribunals Act, 1984 may from time to time prescribe) may be brought before the Small Claims Tribunals of the State Courts of Singapore.
  • Mediation through the Singapore Mediation Centre is encouraged for disputes that exceed the Small Claims threshold but do not warrant litigation.
  • Litigation shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.

Our failure to enforce any right or provision shall not be construed as a waiver of that right.

Neither party shall be liable for failure to perform due to events beyond reasonable control, including acts of God, war, terrorism, civil unrest, government action, network or power failures, or pandemics.
