MOE Compliance

AL1 Tutor is built specifically for the Singapore Ministry of Education curriculum. This page sets out what that means in practice, what AL1 Tutor is and isn't, and how we approach AI accuracy in an educational setting.

1. Our Curriculum Alignment

AL1 Tutor's content is built on publicly available Singapore MOE syllabus documents, past examination papers (where licence permits referencing only — we do not reproduce copyrighted question text), and MOE-approved learning frameworks. Specifically:

• Our practice items are tagged to MOE syllabus codes (e.g. PSLE Math, GCE O-Level English).
• Mother Tongue (Chinese, Malay, Tamil) content references the relevant MOE syllabus and approved vocabulary lists.
• Composition feedback is graded against MOE AL bands (Achievement Levels) for PSLE and against the relevant grading conventions for Secondary and JC.
• Subject coverage is updated as MOE syllabi evolve.

2. Subjects & Levels Covered

AL1 Tutor's current coverage is being expanded. At launch, our supported subjects and levels include:

• Primary 1 to Primary 6: Mathematics, English, Mother Tongue (Chinese, Malay, Tamil), Science (from Primary 3).
• Secondary 1 to Secondary 4 (legacy O-Level / new SEC): Mathematics, English, Mother Tongue. Other subjects rolling out progressively.
• Junior College 1 to JC 2: General Paper (8807).

3. 2026–2027 Curriculum Changes

We are actively tracking the following MOE-announced changes and updating our content accordingly:

PSLE 2026 (Primary 6 cohort sitting in 2026)

Mathematics syllabus updates: Speed removed; Algebra introduced at Primary 6. Science syllabus updates: Cells removed.

Gifted Education Programme replacement (rolling out August 2026)

The GEP is being replaced by Advanced Modules, with a Primary 3 identification test. AL1 Tutor's "Advanced track" mode will reflect this designation.

GCE O-Level → Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC, 2027)

The streaming system is being replaced by subject-based G1 / G2 / G3 banding under SEC. AL1 Tutor's Secondary track designations will migrate from "O-Level / N-Level" to "G1 / G2 / G3" as the changeover takes effect.

Our intent is that students sitting an examination in a given year see content and grading aligned to the syllabus that applies to them. Where there is ambiguity during a transition, please defer to your child's school for official guidance.

5. AL1 Tutor is Not a Replacement for School

AL1 Tutor is a supplementary learning aid. It is designed to support — not replace — formal schooling, qualified teachers, and parental involvement.

We make no claim that:

• using AL1 Tutor will guarantee any particular examination result;
• AL1 Tutor is equivalent to enrolment in a tuition centre or to lessons from a qualified human tutor;
• AL1 Tutor's content is appropriate for use during school assessments (the rules of your child's school and any examination board take precedence).

Examination success depends on many factors: the child's own effort and revision, the quality of school instruction, parental support, sleep, mental health, and luck on the day. AL1 Tutor is one tool among many.

6. AI Accuracy & Limitations

AL1 Tutor uses large language models (LLMs) to generate its responses. LLMs are powerful but imperfect. They can:

• occasionally produce factually incorrect statements;
• make arithmetic errors in mathematical workings;
• misinterpret a question's intent;
• produce solutions that, while technically correct, are not aligned with the marking scheme expected for a particular examination.

To minimise these issues, AL1 Tutor uses:

• Retrieval-augmented generation: for subject-matter questions, the AI consults curated MOE-aligned source material before responding.
• Auditor models: for questions where accuracy is critical, a second AI model independently reviews the primary tutor's response.
• Verification badges: when a response can be verified against a known source, AL1 Tutor displays a "verified" badge. Responses without this badge should be checked against textbooks or teachers.
• Continuous improvement: we monitor errors flagged by users and improve our system over time.

Our current accuracy statistics, by subject and level, are published on our Trust & Accuracy page. We update these monthly.

If your child has a question where the accuracy of the answer is critical — for example, the day before an examination — we strongly recommend verifying with a school teacher or trusted reference text. AL1 Tutor is most valuable for ongoing practice and revision; it is not a substitute for the authoritative resources of formal education.

7. AI Safety & Project Moonshot

Singapore is among the world leaders in pragmatic AI governance, and we follow the public guidance issued by the IMDA-supported AI Verify Foundation, the Personal Data Protection Commission, and other relevant bodies.

In particular, we are working towards integration with Project Moonshot, the open-source LLM testing framework published by the AI Verify Foundation. As of the date of this policy, integration is in development. Our roadmap includes:

• defining an AL1 Tutor-specific red-team test suite covering prompt injection, child-safety filters, fairness across mother-tongue subjects, and mathematical correctness benchmarks;
• running these tests routinely as part of our development pipeline;
• publishing summary results of relevance to parents and educators.
